All moved in

A couple weeks ago I moved into my van full time. I spent a couple weeks outside my mom's house until my next check came. Now I'm at an RV park. So far, so good.

I did have to work on the Thetford Electra-Magic recirculating toilet a bit as the pull valve built into the bottom was rusted shut at the shaft. I removed the plastic handle and attached vise grips to the metal rod and turned it to break the rust free. Now it opens and closes just fine. A bit of oil on the shaft and regular use will help keep it from rusting up again.

I tested out my fridge and inverter setup but it won't work overnight. The battery bank is too small. It wasn't totally dark before the voltage was too low (when the fridge would kick on) for the inverter to run. I will just use the fridge for dry food storage when off the grid and have no refrigeration.

  1. Hi Cubey!

I remember when you posted a question on RVNet which wasn't received very well and I suggested that you try Cheaprvliving instead. I lost track of you and didn't see all of your posts or that you had a blog. Congratulations on your move! Hope everything is going good!

  2. Yes, I post over there from time to time. Things are going good. I'll be hitting the road at the beginning of October. I'm tying up loose ends and getting a last few things I want/need before I leave.
